Social Democratic Party, SDP, britisk politisk parti. SDP blev dannet i 1981 som et udbryderparti fra Labour Party. Politikere som David Owen, Shirley Williams, William Rodgers (f. 1928) og Roy Jenkins, the Gang of Four, var utilfredse med partiets stigende fjendtlighed mod EF (EU) og NATO og med venstrefløjens forslag om at øge partiorganernes indflydelse ved valg af partileder og kandidater til Underhuset. SDP indledte i 1981 et valgteknisk samarbejde med De Liberale; den såkaldte Alliance. De fik pæne stemmetal, men få mandater ved valgene i 1983 og 1987, og i 1988 slog hovedparterne af de to partier sig sammen i Social and Liberal Democratic Party (senere Liberal Democrats). SDP blev opløst som parti i 1990.
